Abstract: The two central issues during the process of pit excavation are the adverse effects brought up by excavationinduced soil deformation on adjacent piers, and the additional stress, displacement and bend moment of pile foundation caused by the interaction between pile foundation and earth. With reference to engineering projects, the 3D FEM was established using GTS software. On the basis, the interaction between pit excavation and pile, including the displacement of pit supporting structure, surface subsidence and the pile bending moment changing characteristics, was analyzed. Besides, the calculation results were compared with the measuring results.
