Research on the Effects of Stick Arrangement on the Properties of Double Wishbone Front Suspension

Abstract: Based on the theory of multibody dynamics system, an accurate model for a sports utility vehicle Sedan’s double wishbone independent front suspension is established. The changing rule of the suspension positional parameters with the wheel travel are analyzed. Besides, to improve the vehicle handling stability, it analyzed the sensibility of the suspension hardpoints with the changing of the suspension positional parameters, and optimized some hardpoints of the suspension. As a result, compared with the experimental data of the target vehicle, the performance of the automobile suspension was improved. Finally, as a kind of reference for suspension design, some general regular patterns about the effects of suspension stick arrangement on the properties of double wishbone front suspension were summarized.
