Adaptive ECG Signal Compression Algorithm Based on Biorthogonal Wavelets

Abstract: It proposes a novel ECG signal compression algorithm,based on biorthogonal wavelet Bior4.4 that can successivey partition the wavelet coefficients in the space frequency domain and encode them using adaptive decimal to binary conversion.This algorithm is tested with 8 different records from MIT-BIH arrhythmia database,an average percent root mean square difference as around 0.05 %~4.70 % for an average compression ratio of 1.5∶1 to 33∶1 obtained.
