Thermo-magnetic Stability of Ferrofluid for Hyperthermia

Abstract: Water-based biocompatible fluid was prepared with magnetite particles (Fe3O4) coated with βCyclodextrin via the two-step co-precipitation method.  The thermomagnetic stabilities around induction heating in an alternating current (AC) magnetic field were investigated when the fluid was heated in the AC magnetic field for 900 s, the temperatures of magnetic fluid containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles or Fe3O4/β-Cyclodextrin composite nanoparticles rising to 63 ℃ and 53 ℃ respectively. The hyperthermic tests prove that the magnetic fluid is suitable for localized hyperthermia treatment of cancer. 
