Impact of the Cathode Materials on the Performance of Polymer Light-emitting Devices

Abstract: Double-layer polymer light-emitting devices (PLEDs),based on poly(9,9-dioctylfluoren-4,7-di-2-thienyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)(PDOF-DBT,m(DOF):m(DBF)=85:15),using alkaline metals, alkaline earth metals and insulated materials as the cathode,show different characteristics. Device with Ba(a thickness of about 3nm) as cathode shows better performance:the external quantum efficiency is 1.6%, and the highest light intensity is close to 4000cd/m~2.The result demonstrates the interface between PDOF-DBT and this kind cathode with good energetic contact, and electron-injecting equilibrium.
