Abstract: The motion compensation devices are often used for the movement of drill strings in deep-sea drilling operations, and the load and movement of the drill strings will greatly change while being compensated.A nonlinear dynamic analysis of drill strings was conducted. The results show that the drill strings are safe after they are compensated and that the force on compensation devices is influenced by sea water.
