On the Energy Velocity of Electromagnetic Waves
    Lin Fumin,Liu Meixi
Journal of Guangdong University of Technology. 2012, 29 (1): 1-4.
    Abstract    HTML ( )   PDF(483KB)
It was pointed out that the definition of energy velocity has clear meaning only for a ray of electromagnetic waves with definite frequency and wave vector. Then, some explanation and proof were provided.  By calculating the average energy velocities and the phase velocities of electromagnetic waves in boundless linear media and typical transmission lines, it arrives at the conclusion that:when the electromagnetic wave propagates through linear media by TEM mode, the average energy velocity equals the phase velocity; if electromagnetic waves are transmitted by the TEmn mode or TMmn mode through a transmission line, the average energy velocity is variable on the wave front, and it is always lower than the phase velocity or the speed of light in the vacuum.

    Zhou Shucang, Zhou Ying,Guo Tiankui
Journal of Guangdong University of Technology. 2012, 29 (1): 5-8.
    Abstract    HTML ( )   PDF(490KB)
A nonnegative least square (NNLS) algorithm was applied to inversion computation of particle size distribution in photon correlation spectroscopy. Four monodisperse particle samples were measured by NNLS, and the results were compared with those measured by the instrument of Brookhaven Company and the nominal diameter of the samples. The comparative results show that the nonnegative least square algorithm works precisely on inversion computation of the diameter and size distribution of monodisperse particles.

A Genetic Algorithm Based on the Classification of the Auxiliary Group
    Tu Jingxian, Liu Wei
Journal of Guangdong University of Technology. 2012, 29 (1): 39-42.
    Abstract    HTML ( )   PDF(493KB)

A genetic algorithm, based on the classification of the auxiliary group, was proposed. The algorithm overcame the weakness that diversity of the auxiliary group was not perfect, and with prior knowledge it classified the auxiliary group into several subgroups. After the classification, it is more favourable for the auxiliary group and the main group to evolve. Meanwhile, the diversity of the auxiliary group is maintained. The results show that the improved algorithm is more effective than some other existing genetic algorithms. The improved algorithm avoids being trapped into the local optimum, thus deriving the global optimum.
